NASCAR, JEREMY MAYFIELD, DRUGS, UNION – OXYMORON??

June 14, 2009 by reflecktions

I am sitting here  wolfing some chow just trying to figure out what’s in the minds of NASCAR with their drug policy & banned substances. I, by no means am condoning the actions of Jeremy Mayfield. I do agree with NASCAR’s action in dealing with the offense. But where does NASCAR get off with having a total drug restriction. ( Oh they clarified that with ‘only medication prescribed by a physician’) That makes it OK. I mean, aspirin is a drug; also many other legal pain meds and symptom relievers; I guess they are all banned. Nascar racing is a dangerous sport. There is no dispute with that. Many over the counter drugs can affect ones ability to function in one way or the other. They must implement a policy similar to US Professional Sports Organizations such as NBA, MLB, NHL, NFL, & so many others, TNTC. Each one has a list of banned substances with penalties assigned to them. Is Nascar exempt?? They are more concerned about pit ”SPEED”!!! ooops, did I just say SPEED???  I guess if you have a headache one day; you just suffer ! O just suffer NASCAR’s wrath as they see fit.

Im not so sure about a drivers’ union? Thats subject for another day. http://bit.ly/PbwqH

First, why would NASCAR create a drug policy that does not have a list of banned substances (aka, who was the ad wizard who came up with that drug policy?)?

Bruce Lee Collectible NASCAR Diecast

June 10, 2009 by reflecktions

I came across a spectacular diecast car. Bruce Lee & NASCAR’s #99 Jeff Burton are featured on this really cool 1:24 scale diecast car by Racing Champions. While I was Googling  ’DIECAST’, I saw an awful lot of junk out there. This, by all means, is the real thing; perfect in every way I can see!

NASCAR’s Dale Earnhardt Jr – Cup Driver or Grocery Clerk?

June 8, 2009 by reflecktions

I came across a somewhat comical Myspace Page about a week ago. While I was Googling ‘Dale Earnhardt Jr’, I was looking for NASCAR articles and updates. Up popped >>> http://tinyurl.com/nohqq8

The page is clean with no popups. It was last updated 5/31/08 by the Myspace Page owner. The interesting thing about this page is the fact that the author seems to be very intuitive; even over a year ago. I will back up a bit. I’m not a Dale Jr fan nor have I ever been. I believe his popularity is unfounded. His talent for racing should be limited to the Soap Box Derby. I find it difficult to admire his abilities as a driver when it’s hard to remember ….. hmmmm… When was his last win? Did he ever win a cup; Winston, Nextel, or otherwise? Riding on the shirttail of his Ol’ Man, (Dale Earnhardt Sr.), Junior never truly has shown that he is a real contender. Remember when he was winning races or even placing top 10??? That’s when he was with DEI; a company his dad built. He’s now with Hendrick and I think a huge disappointment to Rick. Is he a spoiled kid? Would he ever had raced NASCAR if he wasn’t his dad’s son? Does Junior think he’s the second coming of the Intimidator? I don’t want anyone to believe I am disrespecting Dale Earnhardt Sr. Dale Sr., has earned my respect over and over during his quickly ended career. I really think his son would be bagging groceries at some North Carolina Grocery Store, if it weren’t for his dad. I think if he had any potential at all, he had the opportunity with DEI.

There is one positive as I see it. Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s popularity, although I cant understand why, has given me the a huge boost in sales through my store. http://tinyurl.com/qa9wmp Yeah I dabble in online sales… Junior merchandise account for over 30% of sales. Thanks Dale Jr.

Who else feels the same way? Can anyone explain his popularity other than being his dad’s son? I do wish he had more talent. He should step aside and take up the career I mentioned earlier. One more thing??? Does he have a girlfriend or a significant other??? Again….. Just my opinion. Oh, I know, opinions are like butt-holes.

New NASCAR Double File Restart Rule

June 7, 2009 by reflecktions

I have following some sort of racing for nearly 3 decades. Indy, NHRA, Nationwide, Craftsman, & NASCAR have all endured many changes throughout the years. NASCAR in particular has made so many changes too numerous to count. I agree with almost all the changes involving driver safety. The issues I have concern NASCAR changes to possibly make the sport more competitive. First of all, one of the more recent changes, I believe has unfairly influenced the outcome of the race. That is, the ”CHASE FOR THE SPRINT CUP”. In theory, I believe, the goal was to stimulate competition. In reality, it has done just the opposite for at least the 21st through the 25th race, especially if a substantial points gap exists amongst the top 12 during those races. I also believe that placing the top 12 drivers on nearly a level playing field, regardless of their current points. I know the goal was to help eliminate a driver winning the cup merely by consistently placing in the top 5-10 for 36 races. As we know, that has happened before. Does this make the drivers & teams more competitive amongst themselves in the Chase for the Cup? Nope. My Opinion!!!

NASCAR.COM news clip http://tinyurl.com/NewRuleNews
Lets get to the new double-file restarts. I say, ITS ABOUT TIME!!! That alone will not only help the leaders, but will also give drivers within reasonable reach, to compete for the win. Sure it hurts some of the lapped cars. But hey guys, YOU ARE DOWN AT LEAST ONE LAP! Will this rule make for more action? I say OH YEAH! Will it cause more crashes? Probably! As long as the safety rules are in effect, why not more crashes? Remember a few weeks back in Atlanta with Carl Edwards….. One hell of an airborne crash! No one got hurt. I don’t like to see spectators get hurt though. Stiff competition makes great entertainment. Isn’t that what this sport all about????

Go Tony Stewart. Look out  for Jimmy!!!
What’s happening with Dale Jr????
